when i conducted my experiment i used a mac program called garage band. by doing so i was able to input various sounds into idog. the instruments were chosen were based on common use within a genre. for instance i chose a techno kit because it's a common instrument used in dance music. in the end i chosen a rock drum kit, grand piano, big electric guitar lead and string instruments.
while testing these instruments i also did two variations of rhythm, a constant beat that occurred every one second and a second rhythm that occurred 3 times every second 4 seconds. from this experiment i found that the lower tone beats from the techno kit did not register any response from spi-dog. I also found that the most common occurrence of light being emitted was yellow followed by blue.
other experiments that i conducted was experimenting with different songs from different genres. one of the songs i tested was closer to you by the avalanes. this is song is more of an electronic genre. some of the observations that i made was that the LED would response in time with the drum beats. also the occurrence of the red LED appeared, this was a colour i could not trigger in my garage band experiment. unfortunately i found that the triggering of the red LED was not a constant occurrence as well as the light pattern.
